TCFL 16 // Finale (Part 2 -- League Recap)

First and foremost, I'd like to thank all of you for taking part in the biggest TCFL season in our short history. I had a great time creating and developing #CONTENT for you all and whether you were already a Top Chef super-fan or just starting to get into the series, I hope that being in The League enhanced your viewing and experience.

It was great that we just so happened to be blessed with an awesome season and it was fun hearing from so many of you after episodes aired. I sincerely hope that you all come back and play Season 17 (and bring friends!). If you have a few minutes, please fill out our Post-Season Survey to help me be better for you all in the future.

If you haven't checked out the Finale Episode recap yet, you can find it here, but this post is dedicated to the good stuff. Without further ado, congrats to the TCFL Season 16 Champion, Sumita!

Sumita (164 points) beat out Franklin (162) and Cathy (158) in the money spots. Not to be out-shown, Kara locked up our first ever Ms. Irrelevant award (35) and got her buy-in back. Here are the full standings and results:

1st Place: Sumita -- $215.00 and the TCFL Cutting Board Trophy
2nd Place: Franklin -- $50.00
3rd Place: Cathy -- $25.00
Ms. Irrelevant (Last Place): Kara -- $10.00

I also know that within the overall league, there were some side competitions and bragging rights on the line. Let's see how some of those shook out:

The Founders
Mike (t-7th), Commish (10th), Rich (22nd)
--
Poor Rich continues his long run of never finishing above the other Founders, even from back when the league was made up of three members. As a consolation prize, please follow his food and dating feed on Instagram.

The NIB Crew
Sumita (1st), Maria (t-7th), Mrs. Commish (14th), Adrienne (25th)
--
NIB can now claim a champion as their own. Sumita has stated that the Board will stay displayed at her desk. I respect the flex.

The Solooks
Franklin (2nd), Katie (6th), Patrick (26th), Kara (30th)
--
The family as a whole turned out to be almost perfectly average, but happened to cash out twice.

Former Champions
Eric (5th), Dan (18th)
--
Eric (Season 15) gets the better of Dan (Season 14). Being that I've been in other pools with Dan where he's won, I don't feel bad for him.

The Manalotos
Matt (9th), Commish (10th), Mrs. Commish (14th), Renato (17th)
--
Rookie Matt carrying the flag for the family while showing he may have a future career in food journalism.

Mamas Know Best?
Cathy (mom, 3rd) vs. Lisa M. (daughter, 21st)
Mike (son, 7th) vs. Lisa R. (mom, 16th)
--
We didn't get a mom sweep this season but Lisa Rita is still my favorite person in that family.

And last but certainly not least, I do want everyone to know that my Good Friend Tom does hear us, but isn't necessarily listening (yep, that's my Twitter handle, and no, don't bother following it). That's okay. Maybe next time. Until next season, Commish out!

  1. Tom's typo continues to haunt me.
Also, Franklin prepared a 2nd place speech, "Meowwwwwww. Meow. Chirp. "
