Hello Top Chef Friends, new and old! We are officially less than two weeks away from the beginning of Top Chef All-Stars: LA which means we are less than three weeks away from the latest season of Top Chef Fantasy League. In anticipation of the start of the season, (re-)familiarize yourself with how all this works and stick around for my breakdown of this season's First Look trailer.
*Draft & Entry Fee*
Each entrant drafts six (6) Chefs to be on their team for the season. The entry fee is $10.00 per team. The draft is *live* after the first episode airs and ends when the second episode begins. This gives everyone a chance to make snap judgements about the Cheftestants and see how everyone is performing before assembling your team. Instructions on how to draft and how to submit your entry fee will be sent after Episode 1.
*Scoring*
Each Chef accumulates points per episode and throughout the season. The team that accumulates the most points through the entire season wins. This is how Chefs accumulate points:

Bottom Performer (Quickfire): -2 points

*Prizes*
So what are we all playing for? Well pride and bragging rights for one. More importantly, we are playing for cash. Payouts will be determined after all entries are received. Last season we paid out four spots (1st: $215.00, 2nd: $50.00, 3rd: $25.00, and Mr./Ms. Irrelevant [Last Place]: $10.00). Hopefully, with your help, the league will grow this year and our payouts will be even better.
And most importantly, we are playing for a trophy. The trophy for TCFL is a Top Chef cutting board. The league winner keeps the trophy for one year, or until the next TCFL Champion is crowned.
And that's the gist of it! If you are a returning player, welcome back. If you are new to all this, we hope you stick around and play. In either case, please spread the word to any other Top Chef fans you know. The more the merrier.
Now for my breakdown of the trailer for this season:
[00:03]
"Up until now, I've always been the runner up."
For those of you who care about such things (like the First Impression Rose on the Bachelor/ette), the first Chef on screen is Bryan Voltaggio. Does this mean he is next to be crowned?

"It is good to be back."
None other than my girl Gail. If this means that she's back and there's waaay less Graham, then this season is already a success.

The Kitchen this year looks nice and light, beachy and airy. I like it. I feel like the last few have been a bit too dark or a bit too sterile.
[00:39]
"I'm shocked that I'm here."
I am too, Stephanie. I am too.
[00:50]
I was wondering how they got so many really good Chefs to come back. $250,000 will do it. Now I'm surprised there aren't even more, even better Chefs in this thing.
[00:59]
I can't remember someone ever doing this. Good thing it wasn't on Padma.
[01:09 / 01:13]
My favorite guest/celeb from the trailer and Mrs. Commish's favorite guest/celeb from the trailer.
[01:16]
The GOAT, literally and figuratively.
[01:21]
Netflix collab! If you aren't already watching The Chef Show... I mean what are you doing?
[01:29]
I hadn't realized that Top Chef (the US version) hasn't been to Europe yet. Wait, they went to Italy? And the season is in California? Are we sure it wasn't Top Chef that spread coronavirus?
[02:16]
I guess Malarkey will be the villain of this season. My money was on Lisa, for sure.
[02:35]
"It's like they never left."
Man I'm pumped. See you guys in a couple of weeks!
