GBBOFL 11 // Episodes 7 & 8 Catch-Up

Hello Friends. We're getting to the end of this Season, so let's catch up:

1980's Week

Putting scrambled egg in a quiche is one of the most ridiculous ideas I've ever seen on this show. Only to be outdone later by trying to "frost" a cake with ice cream.
In what has felt like a season full of out-there flavors, I'm really happy that Hermine's classic quiches did the best in this week's Signature.
As someone who grew up in New York, there is only one iconic ice cream cake: Fudgy the Whale

I know it was a hot day in the tent but for some reason seeing Prue casual and sleeveless was jarring.

As predicted, my time at the top has come to an end. Paullywood has taken over the top spot off the strength of Hermine's week.
Speaking of Hermine, she's now the clear leader with 53 unadjusted points. Everyone else who is still in the competition is bunched together (Dave, Laura, and Peter with 35 & Marc with 34).

Dessert Week

If I had known beforehand that Peter has an "aversion to cheese", I would have left him off my team completely.
I'm glad that no one made an inferior Italian-style cheesecake.
A lot of passionfruit in this Episode. Mrs. Commish thinks passionfruit is overrated and I tend to agree. The only passionfruit thing that I've ever loved has come from Hawaiian Air:

The Sussex Pond Pudding is insane. Do you eat the whole lemon that is inside? What does a whole lemon taste like? Do you spit out the seeds like when eating a watermelon? Has anyone had this? I want one.
Prue looks FANTASTIC for 80 years old. Good for her.
After this set of Bakers failed at basic things like brownies, I had very little hope for these jelly creations. But I was wrong. These Showstoppers were gorgeous... except for maybe Peter's, who used pastel colors for Christmas.
Hermine wins her 2nd Star Baker in a row and she's carrying the teams who chose her with her to the top. Paullywood, Paul Hollywood's Firm Gray Stubble, and The Soggy Bottom lead the league and all have Hermine as their #1/4x Baker. The Losers, Mary's Berry, and Cut Thru The Middle are right behind and have Hermine as their #2/3x Baker.
