TCFL 18 Portland // Episode 10 Recap

Hello TCFL! Full disclosure: the premiere of Loki on Wednesday has messed up my Top Chef re-watching and TCFL writing schedule. So this Recap is basically just my stream of consciousness notes that I write down when watching, before editing it into some sort of semi-articulate theme or list before sending off to you all. Lazy? Maybe. Blame Owen Wilson.

Quickfire:
I can't believe there's only six Chefs left. Where did this season go?... Boy they really pay their bills during Quickfires... This is a good look for Chipotle though, not super gimmicky... The Judges should have gotten weirder with their requests. They couldn't ask for "Slimy" or "Cold" or "Sweet" or "Raw"?... Byron getting all "pedigree"-y on us. I was wondering when his EMP-ness, if any, would come out... Props to Shota for going to a Padma book signing... The only book signing I've ever gone to is Bill Simmons... If I won a $10K Quickfire then got Eliminated right after, I definitely would not be mad.

Elimination:
Ed Lee without facial hair is not Ed Lee... Mrs. Commish and I have been to Ed Lee's 610 Magnolia. New TCFL-ers, check out our trip to Louisville here... Our daughter really shows her half-Asian-ness by her love of tofu... Fan Favorite voting is back!... I love how half of the Chefs basically punt on their possible 3rd dish... Hey now on the knife sharpening montage. Way too intense for this Episode... Are those Beemers pink or is my FIL's TV being weird?... Tom gets a pass on pretty much everything this season because he was basically trying to save the restaurant industry while filming, but his hats are not great... I love that there were ties, not because it made those bouts more compelling, but because it made Bryon's losses even more devastating... I can't remember the last time we had an Elimination Challenge without an outright Winner... Ed should be kicked out of the bubble for being the singular Byron vote... This season is really messing with my mandolin-aversion... Dawn's competitors stepping in to help her finish had super Great British Bake-Off vibes... Gail was the singular Byron voter in the 2nd round, but there's no way I'm kicking her out of the bubble... I just realized that Amar is gone! I'm way more upset than I thought I'd be... Kwame super cares about judging properly and I love it... I don't even know what to say about Blais saying "textural wonderland"...

Standings HERE! See you next week!
