TCFL 19 Houston // Episode 7 Quick Hitters

Hello TCFL! I'm obviously way behind, so we're just gonna do some Quick Hitters for what was definitely a filler in Episode 7:

  • Luke recounting quitting Noma right before the pandemic started was tough. You figure that when you leave a place like that, you won't have any trouble finding work afterwards... unless a global pandemic hits. I hope that Redzepi offered some of the same aid and assistance to Luke as he did his other staffers when the restaurant closed.
  • As I surprisingly found out at the start of the season, Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. This means that there are a ton of restaurants there. Knowing this, how does Evelyn know everybody? It's really fun and funny to see almost all of the local chefs acknowledge (or openly root for) Evelyn whenever they see her. I don't recall this being the case with any local chefs in the recent past.
  • This was a really cool Quickfire that really should have been an Elimination Challenge. And a lot of it is perception. I probably wouldn't have thought twice about it if it wasn't put on the same episode as a Jurassic World money grab.
  • I can't believe they let them do this:
  • Mrs. Commish was not a fan of Padma's go-go boots
  • If I'm Flamm, I'm pissed. I don't want to come back as a former winner with a Jurassic World getup. But I realize that this is all preference. If Top Chef had an agreement with Marvel or the Fast franchise I'd do anything. Put me in spandex, let me drive a car, whatever.
  • No comment on Pratt, who hasn't been cool since he stopped being Andy Dwyer. But I was super excited to see B.D.H. who, in my opinion, should stop with this Jurassic World Expanded Universe nonsense and spend more time being freaking awesome at directing Star Wars.
  • Hey look! It's a Chef who can't close/open/operate a pressure cooker! Knock that one off the BINGO card.
  • Gail is obviously sick and tired of me not mentioning her on the blog. She brought it with her outfit this week.
  • Tom wanting some campy-ness is hilarious. And obviously Jackson would be the one to give it to him.
  • For whatever reason, Jo's delivery of "I am your lovely eight alternate." made me laugh out loud both times I watched it.
As always, you can find the Standings HERE. And check out the Restaurant Wars recap HERE.
