Good Thursday evening, TCFL! I hope everyone is well and staying safe and healthy, especially as some of us are starting to see our various stay-at-home orders being lifted. I myself am super excited for things like sports and going outside to come back. But rest assured: TCFL will be here for you through the rest of the season.
So I was predicting a "filler" episode before Restaurant Wars. Naturally, like with most everything else this season, I was wrong. It turns out that the filler came after Restaurant Wars. Gonna be a short recap tonight, but you'll be treated to my favorite "Rant at the Commish" submission so far. Let's go camping:
- A mini-montage/tribute to Kevin to start this episode makes me think that he'll be the one to come back from LCK.
- Everyone's reaction to having to do a "camp" challenge is hilarious and tracks with how my own household would react. Here's a fridge magnet that Mrs. Commish has had for forever (along with some of our other food personality magnets):
- Was it weird to anyone else that Kelsey wasn't on any of the season previews? Not that I'm not happy to see her. She also seemed very reserved when judging the Quickfire.
- For any fellow Stephanie-converts out there, here's some interesting Stephanie #CONTENT that is just very... Stephanie.
- It may have not been the most compelling episode, but it was definitely nice for the Chefs' well being to have a "relaxing" week or at least a relaxing environment with some downtime/activities.
- That being said, it was hilarious that this was a "summer-y" challenge and it was very obviously cold during their time filming.
- That it somehow worked out that there were no eggs on this brunch buffet should have meant that nobody won.
- I've never been more jealous of Colicchio than him getting to have brunch at the "Tom and the Moms" table.
- This is the first week that I've had doubts about Melissa being able to win. Was she lazy, cocky, both, or neither during this Elimination? If Lee Anne's donuts were even close to decent, Melissa would have gone to LCK.
- On the flip side... is Voltaggio finally awake? This week actually took him out of the negatives (+3) for the season.
- It feels like I need to write more about Lee Anne finally being gone but I've spent way too many bullets on her already this season.
- The top of the Scoreboard is still tight, but this now makes the 6th week in a row that The Foursome is in the top spot.
As promised, here is my favorite "Rant at the Commish" entry, so far. Please continue to send rants at me and I'll sprinkle them throughout the Recaps the rest of the season. This was submitted on the condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation and was lightly edited by me for clarity:
I live with a fellow competitor. We are engaged to be married and I love her dearly. However, TCFL has clearly brought out the worst in her. Like all of you, we made our teams and we each were confident that at the end of the season we would get to showcase the cutting board for all to see. My team has made a valiant comeback in this first half but I am realistic about my chances of winning and they are not great (thanks Stephanie). That being said I am still enjoying the ride. My better half on the other hand reacts with pure anger as she sits near the bottom of the barrel. It’s like she blames me for her lackluster team. Here is what life is like watching Top Chef in the Anonymous household:While we are watching, I’m not allowed to guess who I think will end up on the bottom. I ESPECIALLY cannot guess one of her Cheftestants. She acts as if I will have an impact on the outcome. After Episode 4, she refused to let me watch LCK as she was convinced I take some sort of pleasure in her team’s self destruction. Before Episode 5, Commish pointed out the spoiler to me so I showed my better half. She didn’t speak to me the rest of the night as I was “the reason” two of her Cheftestants were being eliminated. Then once again withheld LCK from me (this time only for two days). Now Episode 6, none of her Chefs were eliminated (one of mine was) and here is the real gut-punch: as my favorite Cheftestant gets eliminated on LCK, she raises her hands as if she just won TCFL with no regard for the hit my team just took. She’s my fiancĂ©e and I love her but the schism is real when it comes to TCFL. Any help would greatly appreciated.-Anonymous
